Volleyball Storms Back to Defeat Prosser
SELAH, WA - A Pink-out night almost turned into a shut-out night for the Selah Viks Volleyball team Thursday. After a 2-0 deficit, it seemed the Mustangs' momentum would carry them to a shutout victory - something that rarely happens to the Vikings at home. But with commitment, heart, and a comeback in mind, the Lady Viks not only came back to tie, but also shocked and defeated the 9th-ranked Prosser Mustangs in five sets with a score of 3-2.
Selah highlights include: Taylor Beksinski 2 assists, 2 aces, 16 digs, 14 perfect passes; McKenzie Howard 11 digs; Samantha Dexter 21 assists, 10 digs; Jade Larrabee 11 assists, 10-10 serving, 1 ace, 11 digs, 4 kills; Maddy Quigley 10 kills, 22 digs, 2 blocks; Kylie Wilkey 6 kills, 22-23 serving, 2 aces, 8 digs; Catherine Bechard 5 kills, 23-24 serving, 4 aces, 5 digs, 4 blocks; Cheyenne Rath 8 kills, 3 digs, 5 blocks; and Ryanne Johnson 4 kills, 1 ace, 1 dig, 6 blocks.
With the huge victory at home, the Vikings improve to 5-1 on the year - handing the unbeaten Prosser their first loss of the season and tying for first in the conference. This begins a setup for a race to the league title in the CWAC - something the Lady Viks have in mind.
The Vikings travel to the Wenatchee Invitational on Saturday and continue league play on Tuesday at Ephrata.
